PoD Week 8

Week Eight is upon us! I want to thank you all for the wonderful ride we've had so far. Seeing your photos each week is so inspiring for me and just keeps my creative juices flowing!

A recap from this week's Tuesday Photos: For those new to the Project of Doom, here are a few things to keep in mind: The PoD is a Harry Potter Block of the Week that is completely, absolutely, 100% free for personal and non-profit use. All patterns have been designed and tested by me, Jennifer Ofenstein, aka ofenjen. Who am I and why do I love Harry Potter? Here's a video I filmed last July where I talk about My Harry Potter Story. Need more? Visit Sewhooked.
Several of you have asked if I have a Master Plan. YES, there is indeed a Master Plan to the PoD! I designed the entire quilt, patterns, layout, etc., in 2010. You don't have to worry that I'll lose my mojo half-way through or have "quilter's block" because the patterns are already done!

Reminder: If you DO NOT want to see the block before you make the pattern in order to keep it a mystery, please do not click on the cut! If you leave a comment, you will be taken behind the cut and will see the block...just FYI!

This week, we have some required reading, yet another opportunity to plunder your stash for fun and unusual fabrics! Next week, our block will be just a bit different. I think you'll like it!

Fabulous again. Thank you.

I thought you'd enjoy today, knowing you had some books ready to read!
Mar. 2nd, 2011 01:38 pm (UTC)
I really thought I was ready. I have two books ready, so I still need to make three more. That's good.

You shouldn't have to read ahead this week, so hopefully that will help!
Mar. 2nd, 2011 02:21 pm (UTC)
Yes, it will help. I hate to fall behind on my reading. A lot of these books are so old that they are not on audiobooks, either, so I can't even read while driving.
Mar. 2nd, 2011 02:26 pm (UTC)
Oh, definitely, a lot of those older books with diagrams and such don't translate well to audiobook!

And there are so many words I don't know -- can't look them up without proper spellings and a dictionary. I try not to use a dictionary while driving. Then my audio-dictionary is SOOOO cumbersome with all the fast-forwarding and backing up to find the right word. Easier just to read the old-fashioned way.

Audio-dictionary...oh my!
Mar. 3rd, 2011 02:48 pm (UTC)
I don't recommend it. Too dry and difficult to use.

Thank you! So many possibilities..... :)
Mar. 2nd, 2011 04:41 pm (UTC)
yay! can't wait to use all (um some) of my new fabric on these :D
although first I'm cleaning up my sewing room to make room for all the new fabric :P
Mar. 2nd, 2011 09:03 pm (UTC)
Happy to share, as always!

Great new books to use some interesting fabrics! LOL
Thanks for the link to your Harry story. Being a grandma type Harry Potter lover I get some strange looks when I mention how excited I am for the final movie this summer LOL...I think my oldest son is probably your age and he doesn't share my excitement for Harry but my youngest, 21, was the impetus to our family Harry fun! I know my little grandsons will be a third generation of Harry lovers.

I'm trying to see the movie again before it leaves the Dollar Theater. My girls have seen it enough, I guess. Because of my age, I feel weird going alone. Isn't that unfortunate? So......they either go with me......or I go alone. We'll figure it out. Maybe they could see something else there at close to the same time.

My mom and dad go to the midnight release without any kids, so don't feel too weird about going! :)
Mar. 2nd, 2011 09:02 pm (UTC)
My local friends all think I have a little streak of weird, but they've known me so long, they know it's just part of who I am. Whenever there's an HP question, guess who they come to?!
Mar. 2nd, 2011 09:11 pm (UTC)
I love this block. I have to rummage through my stash after looking over your list of schoolbooks to find inspiration :0)
Thanks again for a great weekend project!!!
Mar. 2nd, 2011 09:27 pm (UTC)
Oh, it is definitely my pleasure! :)
Mar. 4th, 2011 06:41 pm (UTC)
It really isn't fair that you started this project right after my New Year's resolution to not start any new projects until I finish some of my WIPs. At least the patterns will still be there later.
Mar. 4th, 2011 06:49 pm (UTC)
Ah, no, I'm sorry! They will be here when you're done. :)
