PoD Week 9

Week 9! Each week, I feel so excited to say which number we're on. It's hard to believe that we are already almost 1/3 of the way done! WOW!

This week, we try a slightly new direction with our pattern. It's a little different, but will fit right in with the overall design. Just wait, you'll see!

Reminder: If you DO NOT want to see the block before you make the pattern in order to keep it a mystery, please do not click on the cut! If you leave a comment, you will be taken behind the cut and will see the block...just FYI!

You knew there had to be a snitch, didn't you? Of course there is! I was seriously tempted to use "I open at the close" for my lj-cut today, but there are at least a couple of people that are not peeking at the photos until they make the blocks and I don't want to spoil it for anyone!

Now, the books showing their ends, what do you think? Being a book hoarder myself, I will admit there is more than one stack of books on my own shelves like this!

List of books from Harry Potter

This one was fun to work on, apparently TOO fun, seeing as how I missed a couple of pieces when I was working on E. THAT will be corrected as soon as I'm off work this afternoon!

I told you there'd be a break from your usual reading list this week! ;)

I'm reading James Patterson this week, so I can really use the break. Some of these have not been good late-at-night reading, if you know what I mean.

They're probably good for getting you to sleep, not so much for late night reading!

I love it! I can't wait to tackle it! I am so far behind, but am hoping to play catch-up when my mom visits in a few weeks. I got distracted making a whole quilt top.

I sure would like to see a whole quilt top. Do you have a photo? I love to see finished work!

I'm going to try to get a photo later; I'll let you know when I do. Thanks for asking!

It is not actually anything all that fancy since I can't sit and sew for long periods b/c of my back. In fact, the whole thing was sewn standing up (so weird and so wrong). Just a modern baby quilt (read, quick to make with lots of color). I ordered batting this weekend so hopefully I can get it really finished next weekend.

I think we do what we have to do to get the quilts done. I try to quilt an hour each morning, and do everything except the actual sewing standing up. No rush, but please let us see when you are finished. I'm always looking for easy baby projects.

Here's a pic of the top http://www.flickr.com/photos/ramblequeen/5513052447/ It is totally unlike anything I've tried before so I'm pretty proud of how it came out. I am not usually a fly by the seat of your pants kind of person. It was inspired by looking through a bunch of modern quilts on flickr. I am planning on making a matching doll quilt ticker tape quilt with the scraps and including that, plus a doll and little doll pillow/pillow case in the package going to my cousin's new daughter.

Oh, I think it's precious. The doll and doll quilt we be wonderful compliments to it. Love the green lines, and the fabrics are sweet.
Thanks for sharing.

Oh fun! I just re-"organized" my craft books, and it was better than playing Tetris! If there's space on one's bookshelf, one needs more books!

I agree. I just traded some pretty thick books for some thin audiobooks on swap.com, so I have some room, too. Something must be done about empty spaces on bookshelves.

You are right liljabs but luckily it's pretty easy to tell what goes where in this block LOL
I will have to see what kind of "page" fabric I have in my stash. this one will be fun with the golden snitch as well!

Mar. 9th, 2011 06:39 pm (UTC)
I looking for pages (cream-colored stripes?) as well as some really cool wings. One part of a book describes the body as gold and the wings as silver. Hmmmmm......

Mar. 9th, 2011 09:09 pm (UTC)
Mine will be some sort of metallic gold and wings will be silvery but thinking about if I want a "tarnished" gold look or use my gold lame once more...I can't believe how much I have used it in this project! LOL

Mar. 10th, 2011 12:28 am (UTC)
I have my fabric all picked out, but can't sew until tomorrow. Killing me to wait. Mine will be matching gold and silver thin sparkly something-or-other fabric. I may have to put a fabric under the gold and silver. And I'm using tiny stripes for the pages. Tarnished would be nice...but I think once you put lame in a quilt, you can't really have too much. Like plastic, I guess. I thought about using a world map fabric that would just show gold lines and a little color on the edge. But I decided to gold flashy and gaudy instead.
