PoD Week 10

Week 10, week 10! This week we reach the official 1/3 mark for the individual block patterns. Kind of unbelievable, isn't it?!

This week's block, upon first look, is not very exciting. I do think it's rather important, though, and I hope you agree!

Reminder: If you DO NOT want to see the block before you make the pattern in order to keep it a mystery, please do not click on the cut! If you leave a comment, you will be taken behind the cut and will see the block...just FYI!

I know, I know! How easy, how simple, and all the books are not only the same fabric but the same size? How can that possibly be? Well, according to Harry Potter canon, we know that the students of Hogwarts are required specific books each year. We enjoyed six student years at Hogwarts...so, for this particular book... six books! Can you guess what they are?

A tiny teaser for the future - there will be a couple more canon-specific books. If you're familiar with my other Harry Potter patterns, then you will have a good guess as to what some of them might be. Shhhh, no spoilers!

List of books from Harry Potter

I'm thinking standard book of spells grade 1 through 6 :)
This is the reason I decided to put the names on when all the patterns have come out :)

(You know that once I have this week finished I'll have 30 POD blocks!)

EXCELLENT guess, lol!

You need a photo of all your blocks together...that would be amazing!
Mar. 16th, 2011 01:06 pm (UTC)
That's a thought. I might have to get a ladder to be able to get a picture of them all in one shot. lol
Mar. 16th, 2011 01:07 pm (UTC)
Oh my gosh, that you might, lol!

Yay! Canon-specific! What a fantastic way to start a Wednesday.

My machine has gone to the Great Sewing Room in the Sky, but hopefully I can catch up soon with a replacement.

Can't wait to see what everyone does with this block. Thank you for another great week! :)

Oh no, goodbye to your poor sewing machine! I hope you're stitching again soon!

SBoS 1-6! Yay, a good use for some of the larger fabrics I've got in there that I haven't used yet.
Mar. 16th, 2011 01:01 pm (UTC)
Yes! You know I have those in the original "inspiration" and these will eventually be in the same spot (more or less!).
Mar. 16th, 2011 02:50 pm (UTC)
So it's not a problem if the books won't be blue?
I notice I'm not so good with the names of the books. Sorry.
Mar. 16th, 2011 03:53 pm (UTC)
Oh, of course not! Use any fabric you like. :) And no apologies are necessary!
Mar. 16th, 2011 03:47 pm (UTC)
Mine will be paisley. Another great pattern! Thanks.
Mar. 16th, 2011 03:53 pm (UTC)
Oh, cute!
Mar. 16th, 2011 03:50 pm (UTC)
Wow I'm glad I didn't start embroidery yet! :)
Mar. 16th, 2011 03:55 pm (UTC)
There are only a couple where the books will be specific. When I was designing, I just couldn't resist having a "set" of books!
Mar. 16th, 2011 04:22 pm (UTC)
I was hoping there would be an easy way to have the SBoSs in there :-)
Mar. 16th, 2011 04:37 pm (UTC)
It wouldn't be an HP bookcase without them!
Mar. 16th, 2011 04:41 pm (UTC)
OH a lovely set of books. Humm what fabric for these books? Something special? Thanks for the fun surprises each week!
Mar. 16th, 2011 04:42 pm (UTC)
Have fun with your fabric choice! I think that will be the fun part to see as the photos start popping up!
Mar. 16th, 2011 08:19 pm (UTC)
Great block and I am so glad that we have the set :0) I know I've decided to wait until the end to do my embroidery also because I may want to group some book titles together. Can't wait to see what everyone does with this block :0)
Mar. 16th, 2011 08:28 pm (UTC)
Thanks! This set was one of the first things I planned for the project. It's so hard for me to keep quiet about what's coming!
Mar. 17th, 2011 03:02 am (UTC)
You're really tempting me to break my no new projects resolution. I could do most of it from my stash, only buying background fabric, so it's not really a new project, right? (Or I suppose I could finish something, but what's the fun in that?)
Mar. 17th, 2011 04:23 am (UTC)
I have a no-new-project policy, too. Violate it all the time. I have two unfinished Harry Potter quilts, and started making two of these! BAD!!!!!
But, you're right, just bg fabric and sashing. Otherwise, it's not a new project. So it doesn't count. Go for it!
Mar. 18th, 2011 12:02 am (UTC)
You're an enabler. :)
Mar. 18th, 2011 01:56 am (UTC)
Yep. People enable me, and I hate to not pass it on. Sorry.

*points at icon*

Yes, yes I am!
Mar. 18th, 2011 01:33 pm (UTC)
We ALL are, lol!
Mar. 17th, 2011 02:58 pm (UTC)
Well, I don't want to ruin your resolution, but I can't say that I don't want to tempt you!!
Mar. 18th, 2011 12:03 am (UTC)
And you're evil. :)
Mar. 17th, 2011 11:36 am (UTC)
bum bum bum
now I will have to change another block as I have 3 standard book of spells books done already. I also have 2 harry potter quilts unfinished as well - but these blocks are so simple and my harry quilts are so complex - the easy one usually wins out. There should be no rules in quilting - doing one at a time is sooo boring - I have about 5 on th go at the moment and 5 cross stitches.

Re: bum bum bum
There better not be any rule! No one told me there were any rules! I have about 100 projects going, so I'll be going to quilter's prison if there are rules!
